My initial response to Council's resolution

Thanks for the feedback from the council meeting.

Eventually I will follow up further on this but at the moment I must express my sheer anger at one of the stupid statements in the accompanying PDF:

"Mr Ellison will state that he never payed tip fees in the past however..."

Which stupid person made that ridiculous statement?

I am furious!! To preempt what I will state is outrageous!!

In fact I WILL state that I have paid tipping fees in the past: $10 per small ute load, one ute load per year. That suited me just fine. Knowing Council now has greater expenses I would happily pay more - a fair rate - but $285 for less than a ute load is not fair.

Elsewhere in the document is mentioned the much greater cost of collection outside of Kingscote. I DON'T want the service, but I am being forced to pay for it at an inequitable level. The cost to me has increased 2,800% pa.

I am also very disappointed in the lack of response from 6 of the 8 councillors emailed (2 do not have email addresses listed on the council website). In my email to them, I did ask for each councillor's personal response. I will be writing to each of them again about this. It has enlightened me as to the value some councillors place on the ratepayer's concerns.

I will ask you Daniel to please try and find out who made that stupid statement about what "Mr Ellison will state" and pass on my absolute disgust. A personal apology from the person will be appreciated.

Daniel, I do appreciate the amount of work you have put into this, and know it has probably been quite difficult for you with so many bosses: ratepayers, elected councillors and senior council staff. It is up to all, including the ratepayers, to come up with the best system for the community, and the system we have now might be the best system for the community, but knowing the huge imposition on me personally and possibly on many other ratepayers, I am not convinced.

I really do like the idea of exporting our waste to the mainland and am prepared to pay my fair contribution.
